ABOUT TO FOOL THE EYE

adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from Jean Anouilh’s Leocadia
(a co-production with The Mandell Professionals in Residence Project)
February 14th – March 3rd, 2013
The Mandell Theater at Drexel University, 33rd and Chestnut Streets

A new adaptation of Jean Anouilh’s romantic comedy Leocadia. In To Fool The Eye, Amanda, a poor hat maker from Paris, is invited to a chateau by an eccentric duchess to spend a weekend trying to make the duchess’ suicidal nephew forget about the death of his great love—the divine Leocadia. But Amanda soon finds she isn’t the only one asked to play a part as, throughout the weekend, layers of reality literally fall away to reveal that the trick of true love is no trick at all.
