ABOUT DOMINIC CHACON (From Dom’s Website)
I WENT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA TO GET MY BA AND LIVE A LITTLE LIFE. AFTER GRADUATION I HEADED TO PHILADELPHIA TO START MY CAREER. I STARTED OFF AT THE ARDEN THEATRE COMPANY AS AN ARDEN PROFESSIONAL APPRENTICE (CLASS 10 FOR THOSE WHO CARE). AFTER MY STINT AS AN APA I STAYED IN PHILLY AND WORKED FREELANCE AS AN ELECTRICIAN, A SOUND DESIGNER AND A LIGHTING DESIGNER.
I ATTENDED TEMPLE UNIVERSITY TO GET MY MFA IN THEATRICAL DESIGN. I MET SOME GREAT PEOPLE AND HAD A CHANCE TO STRETCH MY LEGS AND DO SOME GOOD WORK. IT WAS NICE TO NOT HAVE TO MOVE TO GO TO SCHOOL. I REALLY LOVE PHILLY AND I REALLY DO NOT SEE MYSELF LEAVING SOON.
SINCE TEMPLE I HAVE BEEN A FREELANCING AS A LIGHTING DESIGNER AND PRODUCTION MANAGER. I ALSO TEACH AT DREXEL UNIVERSITY WHERE I AM THE RESIDENT DESIGNER FOR THE DANCE PROGRAM. RECENTLY I TOOK ON A POSITION AT SWARTHMORE COLLEGE IN THE LANG PERFORMING ARTS CENTER. SO I KEEP BUSY. BUT MY TRUE LOVE IS LIGHTING DESIGN AND I TRY AND KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN I AM BOOKING MY LIFE.
THIS IS WHO I AM, WITHOUT GETTING TOO PERSONAL. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE YOU COULD ALWAYS FACEBOOK ME, TWEET ME, TEXT ME, CALL ME, E-MAIL ME, FOLLOW MY BLOG, FOLLOW MY TUMBLR OR BETTER YET JUST WALK ON UP AND SAY “HI”.
