ABOUT THE LION IN WINTER
King Henry II has a problem to resolve. Who will inherit the throne upon his death? Though set in 1183 in a castle in Chinon, France, modern audiences will have no trouble recognizing this family’s universal issues: siblings fighting for parental love and attention, warring spouses living dependent but separate lives, jealousy and adulterous affairs, angst over sexual relationships and, always, betrayal. Except in this case, this family will determine the very future of England (and France).
