#PhillyFringe16 – On today’s podcast, I had the pleasure of spending time with Artistic Director, Blanka Zizka of The Wilma Theater. Blanka is one of the Philadelphia theater artists that I admire and feel a little bit of intimidation around. The work produced at The Wilma is always so dynamic and thought-provoking and her artistic vision should be bottled up and preserved for future generations. I intended on 30 minutes but, our conversation kept going and I just did not want it to end. Stay Tuned!
ABOUT THE WILMA THEATER
The Wilma Theater creates living, adventurous art. We engage artists and audiences in imaginative reflection on the complexities of contemporary life.
We produce both contemporary and classical plays that offer the potential to reveal connections and analogies to current political, social, and cultural complexities and issues. We search for plays that are both emotionally and intellectually complex, and that may be ambiguous, with possible multiple meanings. Whether poetic, abstract, or vernacular, we look for language that is deeply connected to human emotions.
