On today’s podcast, I sat down with Charlotte Northeast who’s wearing the “Director” hat for Philadelphia Artists Collective’s production of “Maria Marten or The Murder in The Red Barn” by Anonymous. This Victorian melodrama is a nice departure from the heavy-handed contemporary works of the day and transforms the Louis Bluver Theatre into a more intimate proscenium fit for any small town of the era. Stay Tuned!
ABOUT MARIA MARTEN OR THE MURDER IN THE RED BARN
A tale of love, revenge, and murder with a village fool and the epitome of all villains, this show will make the audience boo, hiss, guffaw, and cheer. Dastardly deeds, family forgiveness, and a Wanderer’s curse all lead to one blisteringly ridiculous climax in the highest style of Victorian melodrama. PAC Co-Artistic Founders Damon Bonetti and Dan Hodge will trade the roles of the fool and the villain each performance for a truly outrageous night in the theatre.
