Traveling Light demands a “REWRITE”!

Today’s podcast features the work of Philadelphia Playwright, Lindsay Harris Friel. Our own Liam Castellan of “Liam’s Sofa Cushion Fortress Theatre” has brought to the stage her production of “Traveling Light”, truly entering the mind of playwright Joe Orton…kinda meta if you think about it! Stay Tuned!

ABOUT TRAVELING LIGHT

1967 London: the “Summer of Love”. Recently famous playwright Joe Orton has been hired by the Beatles to rewrite a screenplay. His efforts are returned as “unsuitable”. Orton confronts Beatles manager Brian Epstein late at night in a Jewish cemetery. They spar over big ideas and big secrets. When the police arrive, it could mean big trouble!

This play by Philadelphia-based playwright Lindsay Harris Friel wrestles with issues of music, theatre and art, being gay when it’s still a crime, and what the 60s were… or could have been.
